Cabo 38 Flybridge

Cabo 38 Flybridge

When designing a vessel to be used throughout the waters of the world where fishing is more a way of life rather than just a hobby, you must take several factors into consideration. The engines must be powerful – powerful enough to get out to the grounds long before anyone else. The cockpit must be stocked – stocked with big-time amenities ensuring the needs of all anglers onboard are met. The interior must be fisherman-friendly – outfitted with sumptuous-yet-practical appointments and high-quality accommodations. And the boat must be strong, agile, and of course, completely seaworthy.

The 38 was thoughtfully conceived for serious anglers. She offers comfortable accommodations for six yet can easily be handled by a two-man crew. With her speed, fishability, and sturdy build, she’s a true pocket battlewagon for the sophisticated big-game enthusiast. the 38’s hull bottom is comprised of solid fiberglass. Cabo laminates it in the high desert of California, where the average humidity is about 17 percent, an ideal environment. Each layer of fiberglass is fully cured and ground back before adding the next one, a process that involves a lot of man-hours.

More about the Cabo 38 Flybridge

The Cabo 38 is designed to appeal to the sophisticated angler by having all of the usual tools at hand to find, fight and successfully boat fish. It is intended to be small enough with a low operating cost to appeal to today’s buyer. It is also big enough and strong enough so that its owner does not want to worry about getting caught 100 miles offshore in weather. Finally, the boat had to be big enough to sleep four people comfortably – and by themselves!

Also, the Cabo 38 was designed by award-winning Michael Peters who has garnered a justified following in the sportfishing community. The hull is made with biaxial stitched fiberglass in vinylester resins that are lighter and stronger than conventional resins. Cabo vacuum-bags its hulls which helps to control the resin to glass ratio for max strength and minimum weight.

Every Cabo stands ready to combat real-world offshore conditions. The Cabo design team, in conjunction with award-winning Michael Peters Yacht Design, has created a series of incredibly powerful hulls in which biaxial stitched fiberglass is bonded with vinylester resins that are not only lighter and stronger than conventional resins, but also more corrosion resistant.
