This is likely the very best condition 33 Scarab AVS to have come available in many years. The Wellcraft 33 Scarab AVS is the winner of Powerboat magazine's 1998 Offshore Boat of the Year award.
The 33 Scarab AVS measures 33' long with an 8'6" beam. "AVS" stands for Aft Ventilated Steps, meaning that the air introduced to the boat's 23-degree, two-step deep-V bottom moves from bow to stern — reportedly a major performance and stability enhancement. With twin 575-horsepower custom tuned Volvo Penta DPX500 fuel injection, the 8,400-pound boat is capable of more than 92 mph. New listing contact exclusive listing agent for details!

AccomidationsThe 33 Scarab AVS features a spacious cabin with a V-berth incorporating plenty of storage, indirect lighting, and dual lounge seating. A completely plumed head is neatly tucked away in a compartment on the starboard side. Both the driver and companion seating have twin bolsters and electronically convert from leaning posts into bucket seats. Additionally, a three-person bolster-style bench seat with integrated grab rails for both port and starboard is conveniently placed aft of the helm. A large sunpad sits over the engine hatch, which raises on a hydraulic ram.
The helm station has been outfit with high-performance Auto-Meter gauges by Pro-Comp Marine with color-matched bezels in two rows above the steering. Zero Effort throttles and shifters are set in the right-hand position in a dash extension next to the gunwale. Centered on the dash are indicators for the standard dual ram trim tabs. The engine compartment is spacious and comes complete with color-matched gelcoat and diamond plate.

EnginesThe DPX 500, which has a displacement of 8.2 liters (502 cubic inches). Each engine were hand-built and test-run for an hour under load prior to release from the factory. Self-adjusting hydraulic valve lifters, which are driven off a single camshaft in the engines, eliminate the need for regular adjustments. Rollers on the rocker arms reduce wear and frictional loss. Fuel is delivered by a multi-port electronic fuel-injection system that integrates with the engine management system, which controls and monitors the primary engine functions. The system is responsive to atmospheric conditions, including barometric variations, and features self-diagnostic capability.
The High-Speed Volvo Penta DPX stern drive with counter-rotating propellers is designed specifically for high-performance boats fitted with a pair of stainless-steel propellers.
The DPX drive comes equipped with its own hydraulic power-steering system called Xact by Volvo. It's comprised of two cylinders mounted outside the boat directly on the drive, a power steering pump and a helm control valve. Steering is direct, yet responsive with 2.7 turns of the steering wheel, lock to lock. An oil cooler is provided to prevent overheating of the power-steering hydraulic fluid.
